MRI Physicist/Sequence Developer
Wellcome Department of Imaging Neuroscience, London, UK
An MRI Physicist/Sequence Developer position is available at the
Functional Imaging Laboratory (FIL) in the Wellcome Department of Imaging
Neuroscience at the Institute of Neurology. The laboratory pursues brain
research by means of functional and structural imaging and is equipped
with a 1.5 T whole body scanner (Siemens Sonata), a 3 T head scanner
(Siemens Allegra), an MEG system, and two EEG systems, one being MR
compatible.
The successful candidate will be part of the FIL physics group and is
expected to support on-going research projects by developing pulse
sequences on the Syngo platform. There will be opportunities to undertake
specific research programmes leading to publications.
Possible projects include:
1. Morphological Imaging:
-Development of motion-insensitive morphological imaging sequences
-Improvement of DTI techniques
-Scan time reduction in high-resolution anatomical imaging
2. Functional Imaging:
-Reduction of distortions and dropouts in EPI based fMRI data by
using parallel imaging techniques
The ideal candidate should have a PhD degree in physics or biomedical
engineering (or be about to complete) with a strong background in MR
sequence development. Experience with C-programming, Matlab, and Siemens
software (IDEA, ICE) is desirable but not a prerequisite.
The appointment will be initially for a 1 year period and the salary,
