Actually, if you specified "coregister only", that is to be expected.
This option creates mat-files for each volume, but does not write out
new files. Helpful to avoid interpolation since if you normalize the
images later on the rotations from the realign stept will be
incorporated, thus saving you one data writing step. If you want to look
at realigned native-space images, try "coregister & reslice" from the
same menu.

The error message has to do with the fact that spm sometimes gets
annoyed if no spm2.ps-file exists. It is rather erratic, and it helps to
just put some existing spm2.ps-file into the work directory (to which
new results will then be appended).
