Dear list members:
I am trying to conduct simple regression (1 predictor) and multiple
regression (1 predictor controlling for 1 nuisance variable) analyses,
looking at both peak activations and clusters of activation. Both a y and Y
are generated for these. I am confused, however, as to what these actually
represent, if they represent the same thing for simple regression and for
multiple regression, and for peaks and clusters. My sense is the following:
In simple regression:
- y is original peak activation
- Y is line fit for the peak activation
- If looking at a cluster, Y is the mean activation for the cluster
In multiple regression:
- y is the original peak activation
- Y is the peak activation adjusted for the nuisance variable
- If looking at a cluster, Y is the mean activation for the cluster
adjusted for the nuisance variable
Your help is greatly appreciated
Bob
