University of Edinburgh
Centre for Cardiovascular Science/Medical Physics
Senior Research Fellow (£34,227 – £42,573)
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Biomedical MRI Facility and be
part of the University's vision for imaging research. A state-of-the-art
7T/30cm scanner (funded by the British Heart Foundation) is to be
installed as part of the University's £100M+ investment in biomedical
research. The MR facility will be within the 5* rated Centre for
Cardiovascular Science (www.cvs.med.ed.ac.uk), which hosts world-class
research groups active in Molecular Physiology, Inflammation Research,
Molecular Endocrinology, Vascular Injury, and Endothelial Cell and
Molecular Cardiology.
You will be involved with commissioning and establishment of the facility
and take charge of its day-to-day operation. Ongoing duties in support of
collaborative biomedical projects will include protocol and sequence
development, image analysis and the preparation of scientific reports. You
will be encouraged to pursue your own research in addition to supporting
user projects. Opportunities will also exist for collaborative research
work on clinical MR scanners, particularly work that takes advantage of
translational techniques. You should have extensive experience of MRI/MRS
and a track record of research publication. Experience of pulse sequence
development and/or high field systems would be an advantage. This post is
for three years in the first instance, with the possibility of further
extension depending on future research grant funding/income generation.
