Dear Deidre,
I had exactly the same problem. The reason for me seemed to be that I have
tried to tune Matlab/SPM as is e.g. described on the page "Configuring
Pentium 4 machines for SPM" see e.g.
http://www.mrc-cbu.cam.ac.uk/Imaging/Common/spm_intel_tune.shtml.
This should give solution to the sparse matrix and NaN problems. When I
re-installed SPM and undid all the changes (i.e. changing the blas.spec file
in the Matlab/lib/[architecture] directory), it worked fine again.
I should note that I use an Intel Xeon 2.8GHz and that the tuning may not
work for such machines.
Best wishes,
Andre
