Dear Kim
It is used to build the design matrix. In spm_fMRI_design (and other
files) it is used to determine the number of scans in which a response
can still be seen (see see also spm_hrf) using the value RT. Don't know
whether that is the value read from the header or the one you manually
enter when specifying the design (it would be in secs then).
