Hi,
Thinking of it again, have you at least set the environment variable
LD_ASSUME_KERNEL before running Matlab 6.5.1 on SuSE 9.1? If you haven't
then I'm getting really puzzled: from what I have understaood Matlab is
supposed to crash or miscalculate in that case.
Is it really working for you without setting LD_ASSUME_KERNEL?
What is the output of this command on your workstation?
locate /tls/
