Dear John and VBMers,
We have used separate SVCs for two regions of interest that we hypothesised
would differ in grey matter volume between patients' and healthy contorls'
groups . Two SVCs were applied based on the shape and anatomical extent of
the ROIs (e.g. a box with the dimensions: x = 50mm, y = 60mm, z = 40mm for
the STG, a sphere of 40 mm radius for the putamen) . The referee reviewing
our paper has commented that the appropriate way to use SVC procedure is to
make one SVC image that included all of the ROI. Would you please clarify
for us whether this is the case and why separate SVCs on hypothesised
regions that are not adjacent should not be used if the referee's comment
is correct?
many thanks in advance for your help,
Elena
