As detailed in the papers documenting the evolution of the templates,
the individual child's MDEFT was normalized to standard space using an
affine transformation. For this, the standard T1 from SPM99 was used as
the target.

Not sure I understand the background of the question, but one way to
find out would be to just subtract them from each other or to look at a
histogram of the images. Note that, for segmentation, the apriori-images
in every case represent tissue probability, so they should be comparable
in this respect (so using them for normalization in an "optimized"
stream thus circumvents most intensity issues that might come up).
