Dear SPMers,
I have recently realized that SPM has trouble with our automounted (NFS) mounted
raid towers. The problem is as follows:
On redhat 9 machines with data on an automounted raid tower, any attempt to
access files from spm99 or spm2 (matlab 6.5) results in the following error
message if there are more than a handful of files in the directory (50 img and
hdr files is too many):
"Permission Denied or Non-existent Directory"
Interestingly, the same NFS/automount system on our sgis never phases spm at
all.
Whether sgi or linux, neither matlab nor the shell has problems with a directory
full of files...only spm and only on the redhat 9 machines (I have reproduced
the problem on an AMD based RH9 machine and an Intel based RH9 machine.) The
intel machine has 2 gb of ram, the AMD has 768 MB of ram.
I am using the executables of spm that I downloaded from the website for the
linux machines (I had to compile spm from source for the sgis).
If I move the data to the local drive on the redhat machine, I have no problems.
Likewise, on a third machine, data access from spm has been no problem, there
the data is stored on a locally attached raid tower.
I'm thinking of trying samba, but I thought I'd see if anyone else out there had
encountered such a problem and might have some insight into it...perhaps I
should try compiling the source for the redhat 9 machine as well?
Thanks in advance for any insights you may be able to provide,
Dianne
