Its quite interesting to observe the barrage of the emails following the
request of Bin for an accurate layout/data of Gassin village.
First of all, something for Bin:
IGN (www.ign.fr) publishes accurate cartographic maps and imagery of the
entire France at various scales. I would think that you may be able to get
what you need from there directly, at a very cheap price.
And now my take on the data etc. issue:
Increasingly (especially with the internet), I think researchers and
publishers are willing and and happy to let others download and use their
software+research+datasets as long as the original source is quoted/credited
properly but, clearly, there are exceptions and perhaps rightly so.
The solution? I don't know, perhaps none.
Sanjay.
