With apologies for any cross-postings, list members may be interested to note that the Centre for Regional Economic and Social
Research (CRESR) at Sheffield Hallam University has recently been awarded two ESRC studentships. One will examine the effect of
changes in rural development policy on voluntary sector organisations (in particular the Rural Community Councils) and their
response to these changes. The collaborating bodies for this studentship are the two Rural Community Councils in the Yorkshire and
Humber region. 

Some further details are provided below. We'd be grateful if you could forward this message onto anyone who might be interested to
apply. 

> ESRC CASE PhD Studentships
> Two full time ESRC CASE Studentships are available from September 2005 in the Centre for Regional Economic and Social Research
> (CRESR), Sheffield Hallam University. The bursary will be payable to the successful applicants for a maximum period of three
> years. The current annual rate is £16,000. Applications are sought from candidates with a good honours degree and a postgraduate
> qualification in a relevant subject area. Applications from candidates with professional experience in planning, community
> development or housing (or a related professional area) are particularly welcome. Applications are invited on the following
> research topics:
> 
> * The practice of integrated rural development policy making and implementation: reaction and response by rural community
> support organisations in the Yorkshire and Humber Region 
> 
> * Understanding housing market analysis: the role of local stakeholder institutions
>
