Thank you for your response. Obviously, I should have included the
length of the railroad in my first email, and I apologize for the
oversight. In 1833, the SCRR was 136 miles long. It sounds like it
has the Liverpool and Manchester beat; I just wanted to make sure
there was no other railroad in the world that I had missed.

other thoughts on this issue.
