Dear Mr Reynolds,
I can't give any specific help re. your query, but I hope that the following
might produce some leads:
1. ch.10 'The Station as a Place of Work', in J. Richards and J.M. MacKenzie,
-The Railway Station: A Social History- (OUP, 1986), pp.224-42.
This provides a good overview of what it was like to work at a station.
Staffing figures are quoted for several stations such as Newcastle Central in
1901, for which the source is a report in the -Railway Magazine-. A search for
Llandudno Jn in the RM's indexes might just yield something.
2. I suspect that archives might be the best bet. The LMS and LMR sections of
the RAIL collections at the National Archives might have something. On a
tangential note, I wonder whether there are accessible membership records of
the railway Trades Unions and the LMS Savings Bank (the latter was still
operating in the 1960s, presumably as the LMR Savings Bank or suchlike). A
letter to the local reference library and district archive might just yield
something. Phil Atkins at the National Railway Museum Library may also suggest
some leads.
3. finally, it might be worth approaching the LMS Society (a google search will
produce their website) and the LNWR & LMS contacts of the Historical Model
Railway Society (Mr P Stanton, at [log in to unmask]; and Mr H.N. Twells,

Hope this helps. It would be interesting to know how the researcher gets on.
Best wishes,
Tony Heywood
