'Higher Education and Community Engagement' conference.

at the Manchester Conference Centre, Manchester.
This conference aims to support senior managers working in Higher
Education Institutions (HEIs) to consider how community
engagement activities may be embedded into their
strategic plans, and how these activities can have a positive impact
on the institution and its stakeholders.
The conference will provide a forum to showcase community
engagement activities and to explore how these activities can be
integrated to into research, widening participation and teaching in
HEIs. Delegates will examine how community engagement
activities, such as community education programmes, cultural
activities, the teaching of 'social entrepreneurship', students
providing pro bono expertise, 'service learning', or the public
communication of research, could play a more fundamental role in
the core business of HEIs. It will also provide a platform for various
models of community engagement in development, from throughout
the UK and
abroad.

The Higher Education and Community conference will provide a
national showcase for the development of community engagement
activities within HEIs, and their integration into wider institutional
strategies.
The conference is being jointly organised by The University of
Birmingham, University of Bristol, University of Cambridge, Imperial
College London, King's College London, University of Leeds, The
University of Liverpool, The University of Manchester, The University
of Nottingham, University of Southampton and The University of
Warwick.
