Hi nick
Am I too late to be among the first come and first served for the Friday lunch session on facilitation? I do hope not...

Subject: [PSCI-COM] Facilitation training for science communicators
One of the points raised at this year's science communication conference was the need for science communicators to develop better facilitation skills. In response to this a working lunch has been organised to take place at the BA Festival of Science this September.
The working lunch will map out the challenges of being a good facilitator and provide participants with essential facilitation skills and techniques including: listening and questioning skills, tips on managing group dynamics, ice breakers and energisers, recording skills and participative evaluation techniques.
By the end of the workshop attendees will be able to:
- define facilitation, and explain how and when to use three facilitation styles
- list and apply 3 techniques to facilitate better meetings
- use a range of listening and questioning skills
- describe a theory of group dynamics and use that knowledge to design and facilitate meetings more effectively
- begin to capture discussions effectively using wall records
- describe why, how and when to use participative evaluation
The workshop will take place from 12:00 - 16:00 on Friday 9 September. Attendance at the lunch costs just €20, which includes lunch and a FREE day pass to events on Trinity College campus. This is an extremely good deal considering the cost of most facilitation skills workshops. For further information on this and the other working lunches visit http://www.the-ba.net/the-ba/ScienceinSociety/WorkingLunches/DublinWorkingLunches.htm
Places are limited and will be offered on a first come first served basis.
