A report is available that might be of interest to Science Communicators.
The report describes the lessons learned from a series of five Grosseteste
Dialogues between scientists and people of faith that were organised in the
spring of 2005 between scientists and people of faith in the East Midlands.
These events were funded by a Copus Grant and discussed the start of life,
the environment, genetic testing, health of South Asians and the end of
life. A variety of formats was tried. The most successful events (measured
by attendee satisfaction) were those which followed a fictional family or
person through a hypothetical situation related to the topic under
discussion. These also produced dialogues that involved more scientific,
moral and ethical discussion.
A brief report on these events, analysing the relative merits of the various
formats, is available from www.the-ba.net/grosseteste.
