Hi All,
Since we seem to be having fun discussing issues today, I was going to propose
another but my posting was rejected by the List's content filters. This is
strange and I am trying to see what I can do to to the message to allow it to
slip through the content filters:
How will scientists and science communicators react to the US president's
suggestion that Intelligent Design be taught alongside the Theory of
Evolution? So far it seems to be reported in a pretty predicable way: this
is another weird statement from the president who is under the thumb of
Christian Fundamentalists.
Might the better approach be to do something unpredictable and news worthy and
welcome his proposal?
Comparing the idea of Intelligent Design with the Theory of Evolution would
help students understand the difference between faith and science. As we all
know, evolution is supported by lots of evidence. Lay out the evidence and
(as George Bush suggests) let the students decide.
