Dear Becky,
As I'm sure you'll know, Science Festivals and Universities across the UK
host a number of these types of Physics activity. The British Association
website is a good place to start to look at Science Festival and National
Science Week activities.
At the University of Cambridge, the events we organised with our partners
during the Cambridge Science Festival in March 2005 with some relevance to
Physics are listed at
http://www.cambridgescience.org/events/index.cgi?page=physics&cat=subject
The Department of Physics here host a large schools open day each autumn as
well, details at: http://www.admin.cam.ac.uk/news/dp/2005052301
Please feel free to contact me if you require further information,
All the best,
Nicola
