With Google I suspect the question is whether or not the local has been
intensified - because we can get so much more information about any
particular space - or does it have the opposite effect. That is providing so
much information that any freshness of sight/site is "virtually" eliminated.
Certainly for me part of the issue is to mediate between received knowledge
(Google) and what is in front of my very nose.
To what degree is Alison's dream personal or, alternatively, robbed of its
unique experience by a drench of received information via Google?
I think one has to be agile here - like those flying squirrels that leap
from tree to tree, (Occasionally they wave their tails up at the pilots who
fly their planes rarely look out out the window but fastidiously study their
in-flight monitors).
