I learned the term from my own cats:-). No, actually there is a
legendary TV commercial for EDS, the data services company founded by
Ross Perot--it was broadcast during the 2000 Superbowl. I didn't
remember the product but remembered the commercial...the sign of an
inherently bad ad, but it was funny. I found a copy recently at the ad
agency's website. "Herding cats"I am pretty certain began in the data
processing and tech industries around the idea that tekkies are so
hyperindependent that they behave like cats. You cannot get them to
work together, and the person who can becomes a hero.
I would send the .mov file to anyone who wants to laugh wildly (it's one
of the funniest things I've ever seen) but I've discovered it simply
will not post. It's mammoth and I'm not sure how well it would survive
compression and decompression on the other end.

39. Not observing the imperfections of others, preserving silence and a
continual communion with God will eradicate great imperfections from the
soul and make it the possessor of great virtues.
