Speaking of dead cats, the online edition of Harper's reprints a hideous
feature from July 1881 called "Our Cats Eat Rat Poison." Graphic and
ghastly. It reminds me of Zap Komix from the late '60s but it's not
even marginally funny. Either styles of humor have changed or there was
a meaning here? I'd like to think this was "don't let this happen to
YOUR cat," but probably this was supposed to entertain. Missed by a mile.
