Piled on my desk, in a pathetic effort to get some sort of order happening,
these are the books I am allegedly reading -
Confessions of a Lapsed Standard Bearer, Andrei Makine
Reflections on Exile, Edward Said
Aids and Its Metaphors, Susan Sontag
The Sands of Sabakushi, Kevin Radthorne (Fantasy)
Seven Gothic Tales, Isak Dinesen
Elegy for Kosovo, Ismael Kadare (though that's a cheat, because I finished
it - very beautiful)
I've been doing some heavy-duty reading of Australian poetry. Recently read
and recommend:
John Kinsella: Doppler Effect (all his small press poems, some great stuff
in there, though it's a fantasy-size doorstopper)
Morgan Yasbincek: Firelick
MTC Cronin: <More or Less Than > 1-100
Phillip Hammial: Swan Song
Samuel Wagan Watson: smoke encrypted whispers
David Brooks: Walking to Point Clear
Jill Jones: Broken/Open
Chris Edwards: A Fluke: A Mistranslation of Stephane Mallarme's "Un Coup de
Des" (sorry about the lack of accents) is a hoot.
Philip Norton: Excerpts from Teach Yourself Atomic Physics , with pop art
collages by Barnaldo Whelan - lot of fun, though not much to do with
physics.
Best
