I am flattered that my hunch was on. My musical head probably terminates - I
am 'almost' embarrassed to say - in a 1970's collusion of Mingus, E
Costello, the Chicago Art Ensemble, etc., etc - right before hail of Punk
'madness'. I render much of what follows to my children - hip hop and rap
on.
Most interested these days in the little sounds that come through the
silence - like right now the street workers ripping through the concrete
with one horrific blade of a saw. Pure music. Punk before Punk and
apparently here forever to periodically torture our ears. I can only imagine
what New Orleans and the Gulf are going to sound like for years to come.
Let alone Iraq and Southeast Asia. Wow. This is a tangent! Back to work.
Thanks, Andrew, for the follow-up.
