I was being disingenuous. Or partially. It has something to do with
those overpriced little sound devices, Ipods or Ipod Minis. The thing
about them that gets to me is that they are hugely expensive if you are
a "real person" who lives on a budget. Another conspicuous consumption
object for people with too much money, too little to do, and too much
time on their hands if they can try to download every song ever
written. Christopher Caudwell died when?--1937? _Studies in a Dying
Culture_ is optimistically titled. He didn't live long enough to see
the price of an Ipod.
