I should say I am just back from the Abbey where among other items I have
been listening to Handel's Dixit Dominus and Vivaldi's Gloria.
And I switched on the telly to get Wogan's comments on the Eurovision voting
but he had been stunned into silence. My personal thinking is that Western
Europe should pull the plug on the contest. The winning Greek entry was
dire.

Subject: Re-titled - Choral music of the 20th C
AND Britten - whose Rejoice in the Lamb is one of the most marvellous
musical recreations of poetry ever. I also want to plug Constant
Lambert's (yes, the original of Moreland in Powell's Music of Time
sequence) Summer's Last Will and Testament, with is climactic setting of
"Adieu, farewell, earth's bliss!". I'll shut up now.
