Here's the last poem in a sequence called An Uneasy Faith from my book
Mother Waits For Father Late (Fremantle Arts Centre Press, 1992) -
MIRROR
I swim in a mirror
praying it won't break
Praying in a mirror
God reflects on Himself
Reflecting on God
I swim in a prayer
I had written a number of secular angel poems before this and challenged
myself to write down what I truly believed. I grew up Catholic, went to a
Jesuit college until I was 17, then went into a kind of paperback Zen
Buddhism phase. Now, many moons later, I still like that poem.
