So glad you're enjoying Pellinor! I'm now wondering how to finish the
quartet; but since I didn't know what was going to happen in the other three
books either, I guess I'll just continue as before. R Scott Bakker is on
order, he sounds like a must-read; I believe his books are out in the UK, or
at least The Prince of Nothing. I also want to read Caitlin Sweet, another
Canadian (Silences of Home), whose work sounds very interesting. I've yet
to read Steve Erikson, though people keep mentioning him, so I suppose I
should.
The Crow is where all the epic war stuff happens, Doug! In this one, the
story goes south and follows what happens to Hem in Turbansk. It's by far
the bleakest of the lot so far, and Professor Insole, who just read it,
thinks it is the best (though he admitted it might be a "boy thing").
Yes, Niroot is real, I didn't make him up; he's the artist Patrick
commissioned to draw the maps.
