actually Cains Book dates form 1961 -- & is one of AT's last books.
It is an excellent tale indeed, though Naked Lunch is the greater
book by far. Only one writer I know made a pitch for Cain being
better than the Lunch, and that was Ed Dorn in a review in, I think,
the old Kulchur magazine.
