Interestingly enough, the famed 'date of creation', 4004 BC, established
sometime in the mid-19th century if I remember rightly, is not so far off
the approximate dates given for the emergence of city life up in Tell Brak
(Çatalhöyük, an earlier large settlement (c.7 millenia BC) doesn't count as
a city, they say.)
