One and only time I've seen Heaney it was pretty much like that. Not a
lecture as such but a reading in the English Common Room (much grungier
than its sounds) at Sydney University. Warm, so very slightly
avuncular, and wearing a tweed jacket. Most enjoyable and he signed a
book afterwards,
