Not dull at all--I've been enjoying the discussion of Hill's
latest--he's a fave as well. I'll be sure to pick up Comus when I'm
back in the U.K. Hill began with all of that working class angst and it
gave his earliest writing grit, I think. But the further away he moves
from his family and that old nail-making grandmother of his, the weaker
his work becomes. Mercian Hymns, and that first wonderful Blakean poem
of his are Hill for me. No, Alison, I wasn't threatening to "sling in
anything" (sounds like you have a pack of crazed hogs waiting there),
but I have noticed that the three lists of which I'm a member have
rather mellowed out in the past couple of years and I was just wondering
why. Also wondering about those personalities like the I.Q. guy, who
appear to have moved on. (Actually, I miss hearing him talk about his
I.Q. and was wondering if he had any new things to say about it.) I
remember when Joe Deumer (?) left this list and started a new one
because the waters here were so choppy. He should come back.
