Sounds like Rugby League - which I lost most of my interest in some years back
when local Sydney teams were amalgamated/corporatised.
I've never seen a live AFL match, mind. But I assume that the assault is all
part of the entertainment, or am I being too cynical? Being a Sydney girl, if
pressed, I can actually enjoy League in short bursts and understand what's
going on (not hard, of course - man runs with ball, man passes ball, man dives
for the try line with ball, etc). Football (every code of it) in the end can
go hang, if needs, but one keeps tabs in it.
Cricket is my sporting genre, and the lack of biff is welcome.
Best,
Jill
