felt that a regime and its militarism was imposed upon them."
To avoid a blurring, I meant that there was not party politics of any kind,
but I don't mean to make any particular comparisons with Germany, as that
would hardly be a fruitful endeavour. And also, that because the atrocities
of the military happened overseas (notwithstanding the suicide defence
plans), this also distances these events from a sense in Japan of the
country and its people now. As Lawrence also said, some work hard to keep
that memory of the Japan's war actions precise, and this is one of the
reasons why they have to work hard.
