Thanks so much, Anny. I was feeling I'd gone too far in losing touch
with the list, and should just read for a while to catch up before
venturing a say on anything. But then I saw your response and it
brightened me up a bit.
Sorry to hear Rebecca is not on the list anymore (didn't realize that
last night when I posted the note below--found out by seeing your post
to Doug today)--and would have liked to have heard from her how the
trip was, but I can email her to ask. I am just glad to hear it
happened! & that it was a fine visit with poetry, translation, and all
kinds of art being shared--wonderful stuff going up on your blog
recently, yes! The kind of travel/meeting/sharing you've done there
has to be a real-ideal, especially in the online world where f-2-f
sharing of ideas seldom happens, or so it is in my experience.
So grateful for your good words and attention to the Tex-show--which
btw, Y'all: a U.S. conservative academic e-rag, *"The" "American"
Thinker* website seems to think Tex and a couple of other blogs (Josh
Corey, Lisa Jarnot) are a great criminal threat to the nation and the
freedoms of neo-con world-think (this is the result & offshoot of the
Ammiel Alcalay criticism from them and *Campus Watch*--the Alyssa
Lappen article whining about leftie U.S. poets who teach (what a tired
bunch of crap, eh?). Accusations of "Guerrilla" tactics, due to the
letter writing campaign Jarnot called for, and especially for me,
"vitriol" and something about distasteful language--& the editor kept
refering to me as "he." Pronouns! Are! so! ASS!-UMptive, eh?
Anyways, Sheesh, what a compliment to be accused of carrying the huge
load of corrupting the Republican neo-con purities, eh? :)
But in the end, I've foiled it again today by posting more "vitriol"
(!) than they are able to handle (apparently): Something about
referring to their views via the expletive, f***ing. So when they
linked to it as an offense, I simply replaced the post they linked to
with an image of a woman breast feeding and text about its benefits,
along with another image of a 1774 handbill from Boston, something
about King George's tea party: Mother's milk, or Tea--offerings to the
NeoCon sensibility.
Basically, tho, I'm sure they are not worth so much trouble (a few nice
giggles, tho). Very little thunder in their clouds, I think. Mostly
because they don't know how to write an argument to save their behinds.
Well, I am blithering on this evenin'--must get back to all that
writing that's been keeping me from having fun on lists...
More soon--missing the congeniality here...
best,
chris murray
