As my earlier note (today that is) suggests, I'm with you one this, but
many have tried it. It was something Robert Duncan did in his poetry, &
George Bowering in Canada, also. I did it for some time, & tend to want
to continue, but have also gone back to using the ' in some of my
poems. The point, as you see it too, is that context tends to make it
clear whether or not it's wed, as in we would, or wed, as in they just
got married....
But there I go, still using the it's, & far too often pissed at
students who get it wrong way about....
