There are statements here in the disquisition on Christopher Middleton
(apparently the latter's stylistic variety bothers Mr Silliman a little,
as he invokes the name of Zelig...) that I find rather breathtaking -
such as the comment on one poem :"It reminds me of what Auden might have
been had he actually have been a good writer". He comments on another
poem with "flat ear".
What did Lichtenberg say about what happens when a head collides with a
book? Excusez du peu.
