Apologetics has a specific meaning in the context of theology: it
concerns the rational defence of a doctrinal position by means of
argument.
Creationism is a matter of doctrine for some but not all Christians
(although those for whom it is a matter of doctrine tend to regard
those for whom it isn't a matter of doctrine as non-Christians;
they're no better at making sense of confessional diversity than they
are at making sense of biological diversity).
Creationist apologetics is the attempt to rationalise this position to
non-believers. The argument that evolutionary theory is "just" a
theory, and therefore on a par with creationism as a matter of
voluntary doctrinal assent, is a piss-poor piece of apologetics; but
it is apologetics nonetheless.
Hey, anyone wanna argue about Feyerabend? No...?
