I had better wave my banner here I was a shop steward for around 20 years
My highlight was getting a creche at the GLC and meybe getting a walk out
from Hackney architects -under working conditions (nightmare) -but some-one
closed the GLC !!

Agreed, in some ways the AUT was as toothless as a dead sheep.
... but there were ways of working it, mostly unofficial and it turned on a
flash student riot.
An AUT strike was a JOKE ...
But they should have backed you up over the redundancy claim -- lord god,
that's what we mostly paid our dues for.
Who was your rep at Bath? If he was that incompetent -- not that it would
have done you much good -- he ought to have been dismissed.
