Thanks, Doug. Writing that talk was the first time I'd ever tried to
articulate any sort of connection between writing and spirituality. The part
that is missing, which, if I remember correctly, I had to leave out because
of time constraints, is how I went from thinking of my poems as prayers to
the position I define for myself in the piece. And so I assume it will
eventually become a slightly different and longer piece.
