The same trend of women beginning to write in 'middle life' is clear here
in Australia too. I myself started writing at 40 - but being a late starter
was still breast-feeding my youngest at the time.
I did not mean to sound antagonistic towards small mags/small presses in my
original post. I'm genuinely interested in the functions (social, political
and literary) the various outlets for poetry/writing fulfill and wanted to
hear some more informed opinions than my own. I am quite prepared to be
told that sending work to online journals is a mistake. (Certainly, all
one's poor decisions hang there for everyone to see.)
I hope it is OK to reply like this on list. Or should I be mailing to you
personally?
