Martin and Christopher:
So I got it wrong, so sue me.

I'd always taken it that "eros" was a term for sexual love -- 'lust' in
English? -- while "agape" was the term for love of by/from god.
... which leaves the problem of a pig in the middle term for love for small
furry pets, children, aged parents and others.
Right, eros/caritas/agape (as both of you point out) is a stunning
conflation of Greek agape and Latin caritas ...
But how do you term The Third (Tony's) Way?
... whether or not there's a legitimate term for it, there's an area between
lust and utterly altruistic love which comes in on the phrase, "I love my
rhododendron bushes when they're in bloom."
Sexual love, divine love, social love ...
Perhaps the word "love" (like "democracy") ought to come with an health
warning -- "Please adjust your semantics before leaving this convenience."
