it's a fantastic play.

I'm sure it is. Sorrow Beyond Dreams is a short book, more a long short
story. It's been a long time since I read it, so these comments spring from
distant memory: but as I remember, being Handke, it's written with a degree
of alienation which became incredibly affecting (for me, anyway). What is
not directly expressed becomes very painful, but it never seems either
indulgent or transgressive. I think that's a function of the scrupulous
coldness of the writing itself in balance with an almost terrifying degree
of emotional honesty.
