Scope and Topics
Forecasting provides critical inputs to various manufacturing-related processes,
such as production planning, inventory management, capital budgeting,
purchasing, work-force scheduling, resource allocation and other important
parts of the production system operation. Accurate forecasts are crucial for
successful manufacturing and supply chain management, and can lead to
considerable savings when implemented efficiently. New challenges that include
increased production volumes, growing global competition, high quality and
service level requirements, efficient equipment maintenance necessities and
etc. make the problem of developing precise and flexible forecasting techniques
even more important then ever.
This section deals with all aspects of forecasting related to the following
topics:
* Forecasting in supply chain management and service parts systems
* Statistical forecasting methods in manufacturing
* Artificial neural networks in industrial research
* Forecasting in production systems modeling and simulation
* Industrial data analysis and forecasting
Submission
Submitted papers (6 pages in IFAC double column format) will be reviewed by at
least two referees. Both academic and industrial oriented communications will
be considered. Accepted contributions will be published in INCOM Proceedings by
Elsevier. Further submission instructions are available on the symposium website
(http://www.emse.fr/incom2006).
