A very simple idea which is quite effective is to use a flip chart and ask
those that attend what they think are the most important aspects of OH or
what do they think OH is! Then bullet point the answers.
By starting off this way it can get people to engage with you and you can
determine what you may want to focus on. It can also indicate how much is
known by the group. This list can be revisited at the end to see what has
been learnt and can be quite a good way to summarise.
Most people do get nervous when they give presentations so by using this
technique it can give you time to calm down and get into the event. There is
nothing worse than going straight in to a presentation specifically if it is
the type of event where one presentation follows another presentation. I was
involved in one of these last week and by the time my presentation was to be
delivered I was brain dead!
