As others have pointed out it really depends on the procedures/policy of the
relevant pension scheme. In my dealings the majority of them have required
medical evidence in the shape of a report from the relevant GP and or consultant
specialist and have also required an Occupational Health opinion. This could be
provided by OHA/P and was mainly provided in support of the medical evidence
already given.
Some schemes require only a report from the GP/specialist direct and are
requested by HR and OH have no input.
Hope this helps

Hello,
I have been asked to provide nursing services to a company, who among their
remit have asked for reporting on long term sickness absence with a
possibility of recommending early retirement through their pension scheme. I
have always been under the impression that this had to be done by an OH
physician, I wonder if anyone could confirm this.
Also does anyone know if there is a specific pro forma for report writing
specifically for such a case, ie for writing a report to a Pension Scheme.
Thanks in advance,
Catriona
