Hi Karen,
I am just wondering what HR expect the staff (who are being
rehabilitated back into the workplace) to do in the OH dept. Do HR
expect these employees to manage sickness absence, pre-employment health
screening and other various OH tasks? Would the current employees of the
OH dept have to take time out to guide and assist the rehabilitating
employees?
I would have thought the fact I completed a degree as a Specialist Nurse
in the OH field meant something.

Subject: rehabillitation through OH
As all NHS Occ Health departments we always have more work than staff.
HR would like to see this addressed by rehabilitating some of our long
term sick staff through the department. Clearly this has implications in
that they would have access to sensitive information and would then go
back out into the field, HR feel this should be covered by the code of
conduct. We also need to consider how this would be viewed by the Trust
staff, what message this would give and whether it would affect their
Trust in us. I would be interested to receive views or experience if
this has been done elsewhere.
