Hi Jeremy, you've known me long enough to know I like to stimulate
light-hearted debate just for the hell of it!! It is interesting to see the
comments......

Steady,
My training, 1985 - 1988, was certainly not antiquated, and I believe
equipped me very well for the challenges that I have faced in my
professional career both in OH and as an Army Nursing Officer (TA). Just
because something happened a while ago does not mean that it is not of
benefit in todays 'modern' times!

Hello Bob,
As one of the dreaded "recent generation" "P2000" RNs I'd like to point
out that we do venture onto the wards occasionally during training and have
contact with patients and drug charts, and learn phrases like "bd, tds, qds"
and "od" so it's not just the old style antiquated SRN training that taught
such things ;-)

Hi Tracey,
You are obviously from a recent nursing generation of RN's.
Those of us who trained as SRN's had to learn all the prescribing
abbreviations. PRN is abbreviated Latin for: pro re nata (as the situation
demands; as needed).
Regards, Bob
