RE: Ta furnace spare parts.
Can someone give me dimensions of the crucibles at the focus of this
discussion? I suspect that the same flange is used by us, but length
and thickness may be different. In particular, the bottom of our
crucibles are not too thick, to ensure good temperature match between
inside and outside of crucible. We probably all use a thermocouple
inserted as the base, from below.
I'm also interested in the dimensions for another purpose. I can
make Mo foil liners with 500 micron thickness, to various diameters.
As the Mo lasts much longer in general than the Ta crucible the
thickness does not seem to be an issue. In the way we use them the
Mo liners are essentially indestructible.
