Sean i'm so glad that you mentioned Ian Breakwell in your recent post. Ian
was a true multi media pioneer, some one who thought used Painting, Video,
Television, Tape-Slide, Performance, Radio and Computer Imagery he was never
pigeonholed into any such category. I think Ian would find it quite humorous
when we spend so much time allocating a labels to media, new media etc.
I had the great fortune to work with Ian, and spend a lovely evening with
him in Bexhill on Sea only two weeks ago, while installing his new work, and
discussing the show he helped curate at the De-la –Warr Pavilion.
Ian’s final video work is a view of an audience as they wait for a
performance that you never see, the anticipation of what is to come, in some
ways a perfect parting gesture by Ian
I will miss Ian tremendously, I will miss his incredible voice, his
incredible storytelling, his humour and above all his ability not to be
pigeonholed, the sign of a great artist.
